eBay Canada weigert sich, das Anbieten von Trophäenjagden auf
Bären, Wölfe und andere Tiere auf seiner Website einzustellen |

| Seit Februar kann man bei eBay Canada meistbietend das Töten von Grizzlybären bei Trophäenjagden in BC ersteigern. Trotz monatelanger Aufforderungen, diese verwerfliche und von vielen als anstößig empfundene Werbung für Trophäenjagden einzustellen, hält eBay Canada daran fest. „eBay is an open market place based on the principle that anyone can buy or sell just about anything, as long as those sales comply with applicable laws and our policies …“, schrieb Tod Cohen, Vizepräsident von eBay hierzu. Lediglich anstößige Dinge wie Naziembleme könnten über eBay nicht angeboten werden. Das Töten von Grizzlybären ist für Cohen hingegen nichts Anstößiges, da es ja schließlich gesetzeskonform sei. Brian Vincent von Big Wildlife erklärte: „… we believe it is unethical and immoral to kill these animals for ‚sport‘ and trophy: remember these animals are shot not for food but to become a head on a wall or rug in front of a fireplace. These animals are killed for the thrill of it. We find that reprehensible.“ |

I believe this is ethically indefensible and that these activities further violence toward animals for ego gratification and profit. Further, trophy hunting adds to the many threats these species already face. I am asking you to end the sales of these activities. |
